Wiley Group Sponsors PEC Annual Dinner and Ride, Jim Wiley to Participate in Bike Ride for Charity

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA, June 3, 2011 - The Wiley Group, an independent Registered Investment Advisor offering clients investment advisory services customized to their future goals, announced today that it will underwrite two upcoming Pennsylvania Environmental Council events including its June 8 annual dinner and its June 24-26 environment ride.  These sponsorships show that the Wiley Group is not just invested in its client's futures, but also in the future of the planet.

"As an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the investment industry, helping clients plan for their futures is my passion, but my other great love is conserving the natural environment by promoting sustainability and helping clients figure out the long-term financial benefits of greening their lives," said Wiley. "We are proud to support the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and the work that they do."

Details of the events are:

41st ANNUAL PHILADELPHIA DINNER
On June 8, the Wiley Group will be the premier sponsor of the 41st Annual Philadelphia Dinner, the region's premier environmental dinner event hosted by PEC.  Jim Wiley will be introducing the evening's keynote speakers - PA Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Michael Krancer and PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Richard Allan.  That evening, Philadelphia Water Department Commissioner Howard Neukrug will be awarded the Curtin Winsor Award. Named for the PEC's founder and longtime President, the Winsor Award honors distinguished environmental leaders for their lifetime achievement.

ENVIRONMENT RIDE
An avid runner and cyclist, Wiley embraces wellness in all areas of his life, including his ongoing personal efforts to promote sustainability.  From Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26, 2011, he will be riding in the Pennsylvania Environmental Council's Environment Ride, a 170-mile bike route from Elizabethtown, Pa. to Center City Philadelphia, designed to support the Pennsylvania Environment Council's extensive trail and greenway work. This ride will support PEC's effort to build new bike and pedestrian paths in Pennsylvania, filling in some of the gaps in a planned 108-mile network that eventually will link Philadelphia, Reading, Chester, New Hope, Cherry Hill and Trenton.

"PEC is thrilled to have the Wiley Group's support, and in particular, Jim's participation in our first-ever Environment Ride, putting his passion for sustainability in motion," said Patrick Starr, Senior Vice President of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.  "Access to jobs and to natural resources is vital to sustain healthy communities, and PEC's leadership to complete gaps in the regional trails along the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers is a game changer for our region."

GREEN INVESTING
Not only is the Wiley Group committed to the efforts of PEC, but they are also spreading the word among their clients about why sustainable investing makes good sense in the long term, as well. Alex Cabot, senior quantitative analyst for the Wiley Group, recently researched a cost outlay for "greening" one's home (unplugging chargers not in use, switching light bulbs, adding a geothermal heating system, purchasing a fuel-efficient car).  He found that over 30 years, assuming a 7% asset growth rate, one could save more than $220,000 by making an investment up front.  And total CO2 savings, as a result, would equal approximately 24,000 tons for the household per year.

"Making this investment is not just good for the environment, but also good for long-term financial success," said Cabot. "The money people can save by making their homes more energy-efficient and investing the money saved is substantial enough to justify the investment."
